Position Overview

The Budget Analyst supports the Technology department on work in asset management, budgeting/spend analysis, and KPI and SLA Reporting. This will involve data maintenance and development of multifaceted reports including but not limited to asset inventories, helpdesk analysis, budgets vs. actuals, database extracts, and the creation of reports using various tools to analyze a given business situation.

You will be responsible for providing the Technology department with support and supervision from a budgetary, project, and KPI perspective. Analyzing and understanding project budgets vs actual spend, to advise project managers on ways to consistently stay within budget.

  • Asset Management – Maintain accurate inventory of all software and hardware maintenance contracts, assets, and applications. Educate IT department on Asset Mgt policies and procedures. (15%)

  • Purchase Order Analysis and Review - Process, document, and monitor timely vendor payment, PO requisitions, approvals and troubleshoot any payment issues. Educate IS department on PO policies and procedures. (15%)

  • Partner closely with Financial Planning & Analysis department and Financial Accounting to troubleshoot and ensure accuracy & regular reporting on the IT P&L and projects. (10%)

  • Project Reporting – Assist in maintaining the project register and reporting on IT projects. (10%)

  • Assist the IT Budget Team in overseeing and monitoring IT budget – create budgets/forecasts, report out on weekly P&L, and explain any variances with an emphasis on hardware, software, and professional services. (10%)

  • Manage data from the time recording system for analysis, reporting and dash boarding. (10%)

  • Handle tasks relating to contractors: Statements of Work (S0W), receiving, client letter requests, etc. (10%)

  • KPI and SLA Reporting – Assist Sr Budget Analyst in departmental financial and KPI reporting to ensure reports are issued in a timely and accurate manner. (5%)

  • Help the IT Budget Team and other top managers analyze and understand spending versus budgets. (5%)

  • Act as gatekeeper in the IT Capex process to ensure all supporting documentation and analyses are completed and submitted in a timely and orderly fashion. (5%)

  • Tracking and filing all legal contracts and working with legal regarding IT Contracts requests. (5%)

Skills

  • MS Office, Proficient with MS Excel. Finance experience preferred. Tableau, SQL, reporting skills a plus

  • Professional and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Problem solving

  • Identifying discrepancies between IT Software/Hardware contracts and vendor invoices. Determine Spend on capital expense projects. Identify which contracts are scheduled fore renewal, cancellation or renegotiation

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred

  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience in accounting/finance preferred

  • Experience in evaluating budget proposals and project funding requests preferred

  • Experience with financial reporting preferred
