Job Description

Forge and maintain a body of software tools, analytical processes and operational assumptions that guide event planning, and which local slotters also use to maintain best stewardship of their respective facilities:

  • Determine the needs for new tools or innovations to existing slotting tools

  • Determine priorities of such competing emergent requirements

  • Management of such in the context of resource and project planning

Take responsibility for maintenance and efficiency projects (i.e. customer separation, travel reduction, slot type optimizations, etc.) of C&S facilities in a comprehensive project-managerial fashion, including (but not strictly limited to) the following:

  • Item-level product allocation to slotting methods and facility geography

  • Impacts to peripheral facility operations and/or labor ramifications

  • Anticipation of changes to data systems and/or facility operations

Assume a dotted-line supervisory relationship over approximately 7-10 local facility slotters that are stationed in a given geographic area, with multi-disciplinary approaches tailored to the various facility types in the network (e.g. Dry, Perishable, Frozen, GM/HBC), and decide on means of monitoring their efficiency and efficacy. The role works with the Operations Management team in their respective facilities to ensure each warehouse slotter is utilizing the software tools properly and managing the routine slotting function to the corporate standard.

Develop & maintain a formal training program for local slotters covering such topics as:

  • Interface and use of the relevant systems, e.g. WICS, EXE, Red Prairie, etc.

  • Slotting “best practices,” e.g. tradeoffs/compromises & rules of thumb

  • Analytical techniques for processing the relevant information, e.g. MS-Access, MS-Excel, Teradata, etc.

Assume ownership of WMS modifications (e.g. shot breaks, putaway logic, etc.), and act as a gatekeeper for various facility data requests, particularly those outside the standard skill scope of a local slotter.

Assist local facility management teams in the endeavor of hiring qualified personnel to perform local slotting duties, conduct and/or arrange their training program, and monitor their performance on a semi-daily basis.

Assemble and manage ad-hoc teams of warehouse associates to assist in analysis and optimization of such plans as needed, and/or to execute slotting plans in conjunction with local management.
