Manages the ad group and coordinates marketing programs to accomplish the objectives of the ad group to achieve the strategic plan of the cooperative by performing the following duties personally or through other associates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Category Manager for DSD. Responsible for SKU rationalization and shelf management of direct store delivered products as it relates to the areas for his ad groups.
Negotiates with DSD and other vendors in order to develop advertising/marketing programs for ad group including negotiating for vendor funds to support group marketing programs.
Acts as the group liaison during weekly/monthly Ad Planning session by creating ads that maximize retail sales and promotes warehouse purchases. Creates a plan, promotion or sales event.
Conducts weekly advertising meeting to review sales and trends, prepares and presents advertising program (circular) for group to compete in relative market. Completes relative pricing, front page layout for “How to go to market strategy”
Works as major liaison between warehouse and retailers.
Communicates all information necessary to ad group retailers and applicable C&S personnel to insure the successful execution of advertising and marketing programs.
Advises ad group store counselors and insures effective communications and program implementation.
Analyze data related to consumer purchasing trends via frequent shopper data and use to obtain marketing funds for group programs.
Counsel group members in the use of frequent shopper data. Utilizes Weekly Ad Analysis and Price Elasticity Reports.
Achieve satisfactory budget goals of the group. Responsible for weekly ad margin, also works with retailers and department directors to achieve designated department gross goals and overall store gross margins.
P&L responsibilities for the groups.
Meet with store management personnel regularly to insure that successful execution of group and individual store standards are being achieved.
Monitors competitive pricing on DSD items and adjusts prices accordingly.
Creates and coordinates radio, TV, newspaper and other forms of advertising for the group in conjunction with AWI Advertising Department.
Responsible for expanding the group by encouraging other retailers to become members of the ad group.
Maintain current knowledge of competitive marketing strategies and philosophies by reviewing marketing information found in magazines, Internet, etc.
Work and cooperate with all company departments to achieve increased sales results.
Works closely with the Merchandising Department to stay informed of new and discontinued items and to advise retailers of new product trends.
Partners with Electronic Marketing Manager to develop and implement frequent shopper programs.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have strong knowledge of retail grocery management techniques and trends.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, customers, and fellow employees.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have valid driver's license.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
PC skills are required. Must have strong planning and organizing skills.
